Types of Driveway Monitors
Wireless Driveway Monitors have become very popular with the introduction of reliable, Long-Range transmitters. The receiver, which creates the chime sound, is usually placed in a central location of the home. It will chime to alert you of approaching people or cars, like an automatic door bell.
A weatherproof transmitter is mounted on a tree or post beside the driveway. These transmitters may be InfraRed which detect people and cars, or Metal Monitoring which only sense vehicles. We also carry a wireless rubber hose version similar to gas station bells. The InfraRed systems will detect movement up to about 80 feet away. The Metal Monitoring systems detect a car within a 10' radius. Wild animals, pets, people, and wind do not trigger most Driveway Monitors.
